Matt took care of a DWI I received in December 2015. I moved to Colorado shortly after and we were able to resolve the case by doing everything as if I was on probation before we entered a plea. Upon resolving the case, I was given the minimum fine and did not have to do a walk through for a second mug shot or arrest record. Listen to EXACTLY what he says and follow through. Complete extra community service hours than required. Be proactive, not reactive. They accommodated me very well and worked with the court to accommodate the fact that I no longer resided in state. Barring getting the charges dropped, which frankly was not possible given the situation, I don't see a better outcome. I wish I could go into more detail about how he was able to achieve this, however, I would still like him to have these cards to play for anyone else that may come across a similar situation. In summary, be proactive, listen to the advice, and do more community service hours than recommended. Show your sorry for your actions and he can work some magic.
Michael Shrum is a great attorney. I found myself fighting legal actions that I was grouped into because of my position at a prior place of employment. It was a difficult and confusing situation but Mr. Shrum and his staff were beyond great. They were always responsive and I never doubted that they were working diligently on my behalf. If I or anyone close to me needs legal help in the future, we will absolutely use Michael Shrum.
Matthew Shrum helped me immensely when I was battling my DWI. Himself or his assistant were constantly at my disposal, and he succeeded in achieving the results I wanted from the court. He instructed me in detail on the costs, classes, and all the ins and outs of what it would take to fight this, learn from it, and be successful with the court system. I am grateful for all of the help he was able to provide me and his pricing was extremely reasonable as well. I would recommend Mr. Shrum to anyone in a pickle!
After going through three lawyers that took my money and did nothing I found Matt Shrum. He is a great lawyer who actually cares. He is willing to do everything he can to get you back on track if he sees your willing to do what it takes. He’s also willing to work with you if things get costly.
I have read some of the negative reviews on here and will say that I also felt a lack of communication from Mr. Shrum’s office, however... 1. The second I mentioned it they have been in constant communication with me and 2. When it came to what really mattered in my case (sentencing) he 100% went to bat for me. I realized that while he is the type of attorney that will communicate on an as needs basis, it doesn’t mean he’s not fighting for you on the back end. In the end, he gets sh$& done when it matters most. I highly recommend Matthew Shrum. I pray to God this is the first and last of my legal woes, but in the event I ever need a criminal attorney again, he’ll be the ONLY one I even consider using.
He doesn’t do it for the money, I promise. He does it because as a former prosecutor he is tired of seeing people's lives wasted. I saw Matt Shrum keep a person out of jail (for a 15 year sentence). The law tends to abuse it’s power. Don’t let yourself be taken advantage of. Set up a payment plan with him, he’ll work with you. He is always working on cases. He has a highly organized office manager named Jocelyn who will keep you updated on your court dates, you may not even have to see a judge. Keep an eye on your voicemail and e-mail notifications because while you’re working or sleeping Matt is taking care of your business.
